What type of paint do you use on the glassware?  Is it safe?

The paint is made specifically for glass, porcelain and china.  All of the paints used bear the AP seal of the Art & Creative Materials Institute, Inc. (ACMI) and are certified non-toxic. In order to achieve this labeling a medical expert evaluates each product and its ingredients. A product can be certified non-toxic only if it contains no materials in sufficient quantities to be toxic or injurious to humans, or to cause acute or chronic health problems. AP certification is reviewed by ACMI's Toxicological Advisory Board. These products are certified by ACMI to be in compliance with the chronic hazard labeling standard, ASTM D-4236, and federal law P.L. 100-695.

How is your painted glassware prepared?

Glassware is washed and surface prepared with alcohol. Several layers of paint are applied.  There is a drying process of about 12 hours between coats.  The completed glass then cures for 24 hours.  It is then fired in a low temperature oven.  Once fired, colors are safe for common detergents and solvents, for the dishwasher (top rack), and for outdoor use.  However, we recommend gently hand washing in warm soapy water and gently drying.  Exposure to harsh chemicals and extreme heat may cause changes in the colors used.

What type of paint is used on the baby clothes?

Textile paint is used.  Garments are first hot washed and pressed.  Once the paint is applied they cure for 24 – 36 hours.  They are then steamed to set the paint.  Once cured and set, the paint is permanent.  We recommend cool wash and tumble dry low.  The paint is designed to maintain color vibrancy if washed according to these instructions.  Paint is flexible, non toxic and conforms to ASTM D-4326.

Can I place food directly on the trays?

Food should not be placed directly on the trays.  Acid and oils in the food may affect the finish.  Also, do not place extremely hot items on the trays.

What is the finish process used on the bins?  How do I know the finish will stay on?

The bare galvanized metal is treated with a rustproof metal primer that is sprayed on. This primer actually chemically etches the surface of the metal and provides a base coat upon which to apply the base colors.  Two coats of a base color are applied with a brush.  The design is laid out and painted by hand; technique medium is then applied to achieve the desired pattern and finish.  Polyurethane is applied to protect this base color coat prior to applying additional design details and monograms.  The final design is protected with three to four coats of both satin and gloss polyurethane, again, applied with a brush.  The two types of polyurethane provide a durable and pleasing finish, enhancing the design of the product.  Nonetheless, if the item is subjected to unusual treatment, it may chip.  Over time, it may also wear in certain areas .  The design takes this into consideration so that over time and with appropriate use, you will still be pleased with the appearance and finish.
